The Asif and Asifa show rolled into London last week as the above photo shows. The President of Pakistan met the British Prime Minister in Downing Street, the bastion of British power for centuries not with elected dignitiaries instead preferring to drag his daughter Asifa in the affairs of the state.
President Zardari has form in belittling Pakistan and reducing the affairs of the state lest we forget Bilawal Zardari meeting President Obama as part of Pakistan’s official entourage. As a Pakistani I am left very angry at how the President of Pakistan is running his office and his Presidency as a family venture with his sons and daughters being included willy nilly in meetings of the state. Indeed I am sure that most Pakistanis cringe at seeing the President belittling Pakistan by his daily acts of buffoonery.
President Asif Ali Zardari is very much public enemy number one across Pakistan. The Presidency is seen as the hotbed of palace intrigues and the author of the daylights jackals campaign a la Brigadier Imtiaz as reported today by seasoned journalist Shaheen Sehbai in The News today.
Yet readers will vouch that as a principled opponent of President Zardari’s unprincipled politics, I still offer my unstinting support for the PPP government to fulfil its five-year term. Such support does not come easy for me and indeed for many Pakistanis like me who are willing to support a failing government in most respects so as to ensure constitutionalism prevails above all else.
It is high time that the President acts as the head of the state and not the head of the clan in the carrying out of his official duties. The Asif show with Asifa, Bakhtawar or Bilawal must end now for Pakistan’s sake. However I appeal also in favour of the younger Zardaris as it may carry more weight with the grin that is our President. Surely President Zardari must know that involving his children in affairs of the atate only allow for an opportunity for throwing mud on Asifa and Co who are needlessly made a joke of owing to their father’s poor parenting!
Worst times have arrived therefore Mr. 10% (ten percent) have become leaders of our beloved country. I will not go into the details how corrupt our leaders are. Along with corruption they don’t care if poor people live or die. Zardari and his government have sold our country for few dollars and now our national interests are also on sale by him. When I think about the situation in Pakistan my heart really goes, looking at the necessity which Pakistani nation does not have, such as Sugar, Wheat flour, Electricity, Gas, jobs, clean drinking water and there is huge list of other necessities which Pakistani nation does not enjoy. However leaders of Pakistan have turned a blind eye to the problems of poor people. I always wonder that why Pakistan does not utilizes 18 billion people and produce various items which can later be sold in international market such as Airplanes, Fast Trains, Weapon technology and various other items. Leaders of Pakistan have pledged to neglect this nation and they are extremely busy filling their own pockets with stolen poor people’s money. I pray to God that the injustice vanishes soon and we see a real and authentic leader who can lead us through prosperity and happiness. I believe the leaders of Pakistan have failed to look after their country and they have failed to show care. We as a nation should unite together and raise against the ignorance we face today. Thank you
