Green and White Adorns Swat
As the entire nation celebrated Pakistan’s 62nd birthday in recent days, the best bit of news came in the form of Swat where after years of Taliban tyranny, green and white reigned supreme across Swat.
The Swatis were out in force and celebrated 14 August like never before as shown by numerous TV channels. At a personal level as someone who has written at length on Swat here I cannot say how delighted it was to see grown Pashtun men dancing in Mingora and seeing Green Chowk adorned in green and white.
The Khooni Chowk of the Satanic Taliban serves only as a distant memory and nightmare, and for this turnaroud we must praise the brilliant Pakistan army who have left the Taliban in turmoil across Pakistan.
