Drones and the Obama Speech

The Obama speech to the Muslim world has been received well across the globe. My brief review of the speech is this, that I believe actions speak louder than words Mr President. The real test will be whether the US  will act on the words you uttered in Cairo.

I will not reduce President Obama to derisory terms such as ‘Commander-in-Speech’, even though my criticisms of the Obama Presidency vis a vis Pakistan are well-known especially in my B-side posts. Instead I believe in constructive engagement and thus put forward a few tests that the world should use a barometer of success to assess if President Obama’s acts can match his words.

The first test will be the issue of drone attacks in Pakistan and whether the US will stop them fortwith. I will not say more on this, as the best questions against bombing my country via drone attacks have been put forward to the Obama Administration by a former US Presidential candidate Ron Paul as shown below:

The speech was the easy part for President Obama, the real test begins now, to drone or not that is is the question!
